TEACH Foundation Programs
In its eighth year, the TEACH (Teaching, Educating and Advancing Children in Hartsville) Foundation, serves as the administrative arm for PULSE (Partners for Unparalleled Local Scholastic Excellence).
PULSE’s one-of-kind public-private partnership was formed to implement the comprehensive scholastic excellence program in Hartsville public schools to expand curriculum opportunities and further improve student achievement through collaborative academic and social development initiatives.
PULSE has two components:
- Expanding learning opportunities for eligible students at Hartsville High School through collaborative teaching programs from the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics and Coker College.
- Implementation of a pilot Comer School Development Program (SDP) at four Hartsville elementary schools.
The TEACH Foundation administered the $5 million in funding provided to PULSE by the Sonoco Foundation. The Sonoco Foundation believes the company has an inherent responsibility to help improve the quality of life in the communities in which it serves.
